Wilderness + Lis

Hi everybody!  I'm excited about my first post!  I thought I'd start by explaining the name of this blog.  It's pretty simple.  Wilderness (my sanctuary) + lis (me) = wilderlis!

This blog begins at an exciting time in our little family's life.  I'm a new mama.  I recently left my job of ten years.  The hubs started a new job, and we moved to San Diego and bought our very first house (plus a back-yard cottage).  Did I mention all of this happened in about a two-month window?!  Not for the faint-of-heart!  Baby Micah is now nearly five months old, we successfully renovated and rented the cottage, and our home now has two bathrooms and a leak-proof roof!  (More on that later.)  

Being a mama is a gift and a challenge!  It's getting a little easier each day.  In fact, it's become quite thrilling!  There's nothing like getting your baby up from a nap only to be greeted by the biggest gummy smile in the world.  That smile has made a world of difference on this parenthood journey.  

Thanks to the wonderful world of ETSY, I'm also hoping to begin selling some of my artwork, including custom illustrations and prints, in the near future.  Stay tuned!
